Eroica – 31 May 26

The heroes of the highways will be on the road during the first weekend of October. The “Eroica” is an historic cycle race: the participants set off on old bicycles that are wonderful to watch. The lap times are not important, but the stopovers – with traditional Tuscan refreshments of course – are great. It starts in the marketplace of Montalcino.

Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

The oldest music festival in Italyattracts thousands of music and opera fans to Florence every year. The programme for the 2014/25 season includes ‘McBeth’ as well as works from Mozart to Mahler and concerts with famous artists as well as the famous conductor Zubin Mehta.

Teatro del Silenzio – July 23rd and 25th 2026

In 2006 the world-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli opened his “Teatro del Silenzio” in Lajatico, a small town a good 30 kilometres from “Tenuta delle Rose”. The name translates as “Theatre of Silence” as music can only be heard there once a year – it is silent for the rest of the year.

In summer 2026 it is possible to see Bocelli on July 23 and -for the first time- his youngest son Matteo on July 25. However, it’s still worth paying a visit to this impressive open-air amphitheatre on other days of the year.

Mostra Mercato Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco is a national festival in honour of the famous white truffle from the San Miniato region. Also known as the “festival of perfume” due to the intoxicating fragrance of truffles wafting through the streets during this season, it attracts many visitors and gourmets every year. Everything revolves around the celebrated tuber here. As well as a varied programme of events, visitors can taste and buy different dishes, delicious wines and much more besides. A feast for the senses!

In 2026 the market will take place on 2nd, 3rd and last weekend of November. See details here.
