Palio del Papero di Balconevisi · 9 and 10 October 2027
A little further west, a second and quite different Palio takes place every year on the second Sunday in October: in the small village of Balconevisi near San Miniato, the locals have geese race against each other. In 2027 the Palio del Papero celebrates its 46th edition, on the weekend of 9 and 10 October. It is a spectacle for young and old alike, and no goose need fear ending up in the cooking pot. Instead, the stalls and local restaurants offer plenty of other regional delicacies. You can find out more about the “Palio del Papero” here.
